Since his win at The American Express in January, Sepp Straka hasn’t slowed down.

Straka became the first Austrian to win on the PGA TOUR after he claimed his maiden title at the 2022 Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches. Straka added a second trophy to his mantle after winning the 2023 John Deere Classic, which helped earn him a spot on the 2023 European Ryder Cup squad that bested the Americans in Italy.

While Straka, who started his career on PGA TOUR Canada in 2016, entered 2025 with a strong resume, he has only made it stronger through the first five months of 2025. In 14 starts this season, Straka has four top-10s and two wins, his latest at the Truist Championship at Philadelphia Cricket Club. After his two-stroke win Sunday, Straka checks in at No. 2 in the FedExCup and No. 9 in the Official World Golf Ranking. This is the first time in his career that Straka is inside the top 10 of the OWGR.

In addition to the Truist Championship, alumni from PGA TOUR Canada and PGA TOUR Latinoamérica made their presence felt at the ONEflight Myrtle Beach Classic.

Mackenzie Hughes, who began his professional career on PGA TOUR Canada in 2013, finished T2 in Myrtle Beach — his best finish of the season. Hughes has recorded three top-10 finishes in his last four starts and has climbed from No. 112 to No. 34 in the FedExCup standings over the past six weeks.

PGA TOUR Latinoamérica alum Harry Higgs also finished T2, marking his best finish of the season. Higgs made 33 starts across PGA TOUR Latinoamérica and PGA TOUR Canada from 2015 to 2018, including a win at the 2018 Diners Club Peru Open.

In Mexico City, PGA TOUR Americas made its fifth stop in the Latin America Swing at the Bupa Championship at Club de Golf Mexico, where John Marshall Butler broke through to claim his first career victory as a professional less than a year after he captained the Auburn Tigers to their first National Championship in program history.

After playing in the final group at the 93 Abierto Telecom del Centro presentado por Zurich and falling out of contention, Butler bounced back in Mexico, citing his week in Argentina as a learning experience.

“It was a great learning experience,” Butler said in his post-win press conference. “I had a five-shot lead and shot 79 in the last round. It was painful, it still stings, but maybe without doing that, I don't win this tournament. I just had to go back to the drawing board, look at my swing mechanics and talk to my instructor about it, and we figured it out and I've been hitting the ball great since.”

Butler surged to victory after capitalizing on the par 5s at Club de Golf Mexico. Butler played the par 5s at 15-under, making eight birdies, four eagles, three pars, and one bogey. After his win this past week and a T3 finish at the Diners Club Peru Open, Butler took hold of the No. 1 spot in the Fortinet Cup points list. In 2025, Butler has made four cuts in five events, with three top-15 finishes.

After a week off, the Korn Ferry Tour heads to Kansas City, Missouri, for the AdventHealth Championship, which will take place from May 15-18.

This week on TOUR, qualifying members head to Quail Hollow for the PGA Championship, the second major of the season. Johnny Keefer, the 2024 Fortinet Cup Champion, is in the field by virtue of his ranking in the OWGR (No. 93).
